Haha, I got a job offer for NJ. My superior tells me "It's not that far" The lady friend would have murdered me and dumped my body by now if I did.

Holy crap. From Nova to Jersey? No thanks lol
Yeah, people that look at an hour and a half commute (or more) and think "Oh, why not?" have always confused me. To like the highest level.

Northern Virginia, particularly right where Chantilly, Centreville, and Fairfax meet.

I left VA for MD and haven't looked back. :)

Haha, I said thanks, but no thanks.
I've got a superior who comes from West Va. That's a long drive, and I have no idea why he does it either.

Really? I've lived in VA all my life. I was actually looking to go further South. If you don't mind me askin, what about MD do you prefer over VA?

I had an ex, her dad drove from Bunker Hill WV to Leesburg every day. It was ridiculous. He ended up spending most of the extra money that he made over the jobs there to keep his cars on the road for work. I never got it, probably never will.

It REALLY depends on the area. I am down in Calvert County and commute into DC. It takes about an hour (or less depending on where you work) and I have a full acre of land, you can see the stars, it's really nice. Much less hectic down there but it's not far from Annapolis, there are a couple of beaches, and some other nice areas.
Now up towards Baltimore, it depends. Columbia is pretty nice and there are some good suburbs, but it's still expensive.
Virginians will cry out that taxes are higher in MD. I'm not sure that's really true, some of the sales tax is higher, but there is NO car tax in MD. I don't miss getting re-taxed on my car every year.
Where were you looking?

We haven't really looked very much as we were hoping to stay in Virginia, maybe even move back out towards Winchester. But the 2 jobs that I've been contacted about are in Beltsville and Bethesda.
We were really hoping to not leave the state, but at the same time, I don't want to commute across lines.
So I've pretty much shut down the recruiters for both opportunities. But if they keep popping up, I'll have to really start digging in.

Bethesda (and Montgomery County in general) are pretty nice. One of the richest counties in the country which means great schools, plenty to do, etc. I don't know much about Beltsville, don't think it's quite as nice.
I've commuted from MD, through DC and into VA before, it's not really that bad. Job satisfaction may be worth it.

We may have to look into it then. I would just have to stay cogniscent of how traffic flows in that area. Also, it's another sales job. So I'm hesitant, as it may be a fryingpan to fire situation.

That's quite a long drive.
I'd understand if he was getting payed a large sum of money, but my superior isn't exactly my superior superior, he's just got superiority. If he has anything above a Hybrid, he is paying a good chunk of his salary just in gas money.
